Tiffany Takahashi
Tiffany met Ariana through Captain Argus. He arrived in Sausalito to lease the Iris, a sailboat owned by the Takahashi family. Tiffany agreed to the lease and shared with Argus her interest in ancient Greek and Mycenaean art. He suggested she might enjoy meeting Ariana. That occasion was a turning point for Tiffany. Although she lived a charmed life with all the material, social and educational advantages, she still felt unfulfilled. She found it hard to enjoy the finer things when she knew there was so much suffering and need. Philanthropy helped but was not enough. She was searching for a more radical solution that would at the same time satisfy her aesthetic sensibilities - she sought elegant simplicity in social and political policies as well as in art and design. Arianas ideas resonated deeply with Tiffanys need for a new, more meaningful direction for her life. She felt appreciated by Arianas interest in her. She agreed to manage the Correspond for Life program and to seek out and encourage promising young people to take the Elysia orientation cruise. She continues to live on the Taj Mahal and makes an apartment available to Elysians who need to conduct business on the mainland.
